This page replaces the old ?id=addon page. The Russian wiki article on Shareaza still links to it with the anchor “Плагины” (plugins).
What add-ons meant in Shareaza
Shareaza was built to be extended. Historically, add-ons came in three broad kinds:
- Skins changed the look of the interface. Skinning was a well-known part of Shareaza’s identity.
- Language packs. The interface was translated into roughly 30 languages through community translation files.
- Plugins extended functionality, for example by reading metadata from more file types or previewing media inside the library.
Why we don’t list or host add-on files
We could not obtain a verified copy of the original add-on catalogue, and we will not invent one. We also won’t re-host third-party binaries: plugins run with the same privileges as the client, so an altered plugin is an easy way to deliver malware.
If you need a historical add-on:
- Check the official Shareaza wiki and the SourceForge project files.
- Verify any download against a hash published by the project, using our checksum verifier.
- Read Avoiding malware before running anything old.
Compatibility warning
Shareaza’s last stable release is from 2017, and plugins built for older versions may not load in newer ones. Old binaries are also unlikely to get security fixes. Run legacy software only in an isolated environment, such as a virtual machine without access to personal files.
